Zouk

Zouk entered the club industry in 1991 and has since put Singapore on the world dance map, and evolved into a subculture of its own. It has consistently won accolades as the Best Club in the world. Locally, Zouk won the "Nightspot of the Year" by the Singapore Tourism Board 4 times. It's empire has also extended to Malaysia. There are 4 distinctly different clubs within the Zouk complex; Velvet Underground, Phuture, the main Zouk room and The Wine Bar.

The Crowd: Young, hippies and "funky" people above 18. Velvet mainly attracts working adults (23 and above)

Attractions: The music and open-minded crowd. Velvet Underground with its thick velvet-covered walls and prized art collection. Phuture with its futuristic design, non 4/4 sound and impressive LED wall. The main Zouk room with its extensive Gaudi-inspired Moorish tiles and forms, cutting edge sound system and lighting, multi-level dance floor and pockets of bars.

Music: House, Hip Hop, Breakbeats, Drum n Bass for Zouk and Phuture. Velvet plays brazillian, soulful, jazzy to deeper techier grooves

Dress Code: No Flip Flops and Open Toe Shoes for men. Dress Stylish and Clubby

• Mambo Jambo, commonly called Mambo Night, is a retro theme for every Wednesday. It has proven popular among the younger crowd. There's even a special album for the Mambo Jumbo mix.
